Beaches

  • Praia de Falésia — large, flat and sandy, running from Vilamoura to Olhos d’Água. Great infrastructure, good for families.
  • Praia da Marina de Vilamoura — wide sandy beach, well protected by breakwaters, convenient for kids.
  • Praia de Quarteira — miles of sandy beach opposite the promenade, very busy in summer.
  • Praia de Vale de Lobo — beautiful sand below the cliffs, stretching towards Quinta do Lago. Beach beds and parasols available for a charge.
  • Praia do Ancão — family-friendly, between Quinta do Lago and Vale do Lobo, backed by a protected dune reserve.
  • Praia do Garrão — pretty and sandy with protected dunes — good for long walks in both directions.
  • Praia da Quinta do Lago — reached on foot over a wooden bridge across the Ria Formosa lagoon.

Beach kit: the basement cupboard has everything you need — cool bag (freeze the ice blocks the day before), beach towels, beach pillows, parasols and a wind break. Just bring your own suncream and hat.
